DESCRIPTION:Sold Out!\nRESCHEDULED DATE/TIME\nHow to Build a Temporary Greenhouse\nSaturday\, March 5\, 2022\, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm\n                     March 19\, 2022\, 1:00 – 3:00 pm\nCost:  $35\, includes material list\, diagram\, and hands-on demonstration\nIf you want to learn how to build an inexpensive\, temporary greenhouse that is easy to put up and take down each year\, then this class is for you!  Olin Funderburk has been building our farm’s greenhouse structure for the last 11 years and is able to re-use materials year to year.   Olin will provide you with a materials list and allow you to participate in building the structure\, so you can see how easy it is to erect. \nYou will also see the re-purposed tables and learn of other “free” stands to use inside while growing your seedlings.  Planting stations are easy too…just some scrap lumber and a plastic tote for the soil.  You don’t have to spend a lot of money to grow all of your garden plants from seed. \n \n  \n  \nBio \n \n Olin earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Building Construction\, Engineering & Technology from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1982.   He has worked for over 30 years in all facets of the construction and residential development industry\, but he never forgot his love of the land and farming.  He retired from the corporate world to expand income streams on Stoney Creek Farm\, the farm he and his wife\, Leigh\, founded in 2005.  The farm has a Summer U-Pick Garden\, garden rental plots\, sustainable living classes\, as well as other income streams. \nThe \n Funderburk’s farm won the 2014 TSU Small Farmer of the Year Award in the category of Innovative Marketing.  and they continue to pursue the farm mission of “teaching people how to grow their own healthy food”\, as well as educating the public on sustainable living practices via the Stoney Creek Farm website and social media.  Stoney Creek Farm has been featured on television shows and news segments such as Volunteer Gardener\, Live Green Tennessee\, the Christian Broadcast Network\, WZTV Fox17\, and WKRN-TV News 2.  They have also been featured on Radio talk shows such as WTN’s Michael DelGiorno Show and Franklin’s WAKM 950. \nIn 2016\, the Funderburk’ published a book on sustainable farm living called\, “Dirt Rich” and distributed over 2\,000 in print and e-book formats to date.

She works with both commercial and residential clientele\, providing programming and education in all areas of horticulture. Taylor received her B.S and M.S. in Horticulture from Auburn University. She worked with both the University of Florida & Auburn University Extension programs before her appointment in Tennessee. Taylor is an ISA Certified Arborist and lover of all things outdoors; a passion that she shares with her husband Drake and 2-year-old son\, James.

DESCRIPTION:RESCHEDULED\nKid’s Class:  Create an Herb Garden with Seeds and Seedlings\nSaturday\, March 19th\, 10 – 11:30 am\nSunday\, March 27th\, 2 – 3:30 pm\nCost $20 which includes all materials\, seed\, seedlings\, and instructions\n\n\n\n\nLet 2022 be the year that your kids and grandkids learn to cultivate an Herb Garden with seeds and seedlings.  Because herb seeds are so small\, it is sometimes difficult to get them to germinate and thrive.   Also\, herb seeds take longer to germinate than vegetable seeds\, so it’s important to know how to and how much water is needed for them to sprout.  In this kid’s class\, they will be able to create a beginning herb garden by learning to plant seeds and transplant seedlings. \nWhat will kids learn in this class?\n\nHow to grow plants from seed (even tiny herb ones)\nWhat the seeds will look like after they germinate\nHow to transplant seedlings into soil\nWatering methods – how often – how much\nTemperatures for germination\nDifferent types of herbs and how to use them\nCulinary versus healing herbs\n\n\nThe class will be on the 12′ x 60′ back porch that is covered with an enclosure so they will be out of wind and rain. Kids can also go feed the goats and walk around the farm/play on the swing set. Parents/Grandparents are welcome to bring a lunch and enjoy time outdoors on the farm.\n\nNote: Any parents who want to drop off older children\, must sign a farm liability waiver.\n\nStoney Creek Farm has been searching for someone to lead kid activities here in Franklin and Cori Williams is the perfect teacher for making every class FUN! We are adding more kid’s classes at affordable prices throughout the year. Your kids will LOVE her innovative teaching style!  Healthy learning environments have an effective teaching strategy where students can learn positive participation and that is what Cori emulates.\n\n\n\nTeacher Bio\nCori Williams has many talents: Teacher\, Graphic artist\, certified Tennessee Naturalist\, and has taught using the Charlotte Mason and Reggio Emilia methods.
