Curing meat is a different type of fermentation which they have done for years with hams and bacon. \nBeth grew up in Jackson\, TN on a dairy farm where she and her siblings were a big part of the daily working of the dairy. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics Education. She was a stay at home mom to their 4 children\, homeschooling and being very involved in their education at public school. Teaching Sunday School\, substitute teaching at school\, and then being a kindergarten teacher assistant for 13 years are some of the ways she has been involved in education. However\, the somewhat old-fashioned idea of homemaking has always been the most important aspect of Beth’s life.

These sprouts are bursting with vitamins and other nutrients. \nSprouts are the premature growth of a plant from a germinated seed.  All vegetable plants will develop into a sprout shortly after germination.  Examples of seeds to sprout in a jar are clover\, alfalfa\, broccoli\, radish\, mustard\, and kale.  Beans or legumes can be sprouted in a jar and take less time.  Peas\, lentils\, garbanzos\, and adzuki are only a few examples of legumes to sprout. \nShoots are very small plants that you can eat before they develop their secondary leaves.  Shoots are also packed with nutrition and provide pre-biotics which are needed to feed healthy gut bacteria.  Examples of shoots are green peas and sunflowers.  Both are full of fiber\, protein\, and vitamins…much more than a typical salad. \nWhat will you learn in the Sprouts and Shoots Class?\n1.  How easy it is to grow sprouts in a jar on your kitchen counter in just a few days without any soil or sunlight!\n2.  The longer\, but just as easy process of growing shoots using soil and artificial lighting.\n3.  The types of containers\, soil and seeds you will need to grow your own shoots and sprouts.\n4.  The amazing nutritional value of sprouts and shoots & the yummy taste of REALLY FRESH produce.\n5.  How shoots and sprouts will feed your good gut bacteria to give you a healthier gut and better immune system! \nWhat will you take home from the Sprouts and Shoots Class?\n1.  A ton of resources that will help you get started:  books\, YouTube videos\, seed vendors\, supply vendors\, and nutritional information.\n2.  Seeds to take home with you for your first batch of shoots and sprouts. \nJoin Catilin VanKeuren at Stoney Creek Farm for her step-by-step class on Growing Sprouts and Shoots by signing up below: \n\n\n\n\n \nGuest Host Bio\nCaitlin VanKeuran is an avid gardener\, Sunset Middle School Orchestra teacher\, and violinist.  She enjoys growing all types of sprouts and sunflower shoots and developed a business model for growing and selling the products with her Joyful Sprouts line of fresh products.  Caitlin’s bubbly personality and a terrific sense of humor will entertain and teach you the basics of growing healthy sprouts and shoots.  You will see how easy and fast you can produce healthy delicious food that will feed your good gut bacteria and improve your immune system. \n

SUMMARY:SOLD OUT - All Natural Dairy Delights - How to Make Your Own Healthy Yogurt\, Butter and Buttermilk
DESCRIPTION:Sold OUT -All Natural Dairy Delights – How to Make Healthy Yogurt\, Butter and Buttermilk\nSaturday\, February 6th\, 10 am – 12 noon\nCost:  $35 which includes all instruction and supplies\nIf you would like to be on the waitlist for this class if anyone cancels…call 615-591-0015 \nIf you enjoy dairy products from the grocery store\, but may be concerned about the questionable ingredient list of preservatives\, dyes\, and extra sugar that seem to be in most of them\, then this class is for you!  Culturing dairy is one of the easiest processes for even busy moms to accomplish at home…AND you control the ingredients to keep them healthy.  Let Terri Taylor\, from Taylor Family Farms\, teach you the art of culturing dairy from whole milk\, just like your grandparents did. \n \nAbout Terri Taylor\nTerri is the co-owner of the Taylor Family Farm with her husband\, John.  They have raised and homeschooled 9 children on their homestead of 17 years in Ethridge Tennessee while operating a thriving dairy and meat business which delivers all over Middle Tennessee. All of their products are non-GMO\, organic and pasture raised because their homestead business feeds the family too.  Talk about a busy mom!  If anyone can show you how easy it is to culture dairy for home use…Terri is the expert. \nWhile she grew up with knowledge of healthy eating and food sensitivities from her own experiences growing up\, Terri’s further learning continued to increase as her oldest daughter was born with gluten intolerance (when it wasn’t even a thing) from compromised gut health. That really helped her learn more about gut health and the importance of fermenting nourishing foods. \n \nAbout Taylor Family Farm\nNestled in beautiful middle Tennessee\, they raise 100% non-gmo\, grass-fed beef\, pastured chicken and pork on the cozy family farm. The Taylors believe in healthy food\, healthy people\, and a  healthy community. That’s why they have chosen to farm and feed our local neighbors\, and surrounding communities including you! Everything they grow is raised with love and care to ensure the highest quality and nutrition for their customers. All ration fed animals are fed our 100% non-gmo feed milled on the farm.

\n\n\n\n\n  \n

SUMMARY:How To Grow Your Own Microgreens and Sprouts!
DESCRIPTION:Microgreens are young vegetable plants harvested anywhere between 7 – 21 days after germination. They pack a punch of dense nutrients—antioxidants\, vitamins\, minerals\, you name it!  The nutrition can give a big boost to your immunity system.\nHow to Grow Your Own Microgreens and Sprouts Class\nSaturday\, June 27th\, 10 am – 12 noon\nCost: $35\, which includes ingredients and supplies for taking home your own planted microgreens \n\n\n\n\nLilly Castro\, better known as the “Sprout Chick\,” has been in the alternative medicine field for over 20 years. As a holistic health consultant certified in advanced food healing\, she is an expert on all things microgreens\, teaching classes and workshops on growing microgreens\, sprouting\, juicing\, and more. \nBefore moving to Nashville in 2015\, Lilly worked at the world-renowned Hippocrates Health Institute\, a raw vegan institute where people come from all over the world to heal themselves through holistic practices. While there\, Lilly learned about the powerful health benefits of wheatgrass\, sprouts\, and microgreens. It is her mission to share this healing power with others! \nWe asked Lilly to share with us some of her knowledge about these nutritious greens. \nWhat made you first realize the power of microgreens?\n“I myself experimented with eating a 100% living food diet several times and saw the difference it made in my performance and mental sharpness. \nThen I was lucky to work at the Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach\, FL—a raw vegan institute where people with devastating diagnoses come from all corners of the world to heal themselves through food and education. \nGranted\, there are many people who are well that come to HHI to learn how to prevent disease through diet. HHI grows most\, if not all\, of their food on the property\, so you eat what has been harvested that morning! \nYou eat live foods at every meal and your juices are served within minutes of being pressed. We ate edible flowers\, sprouts\, shoots\, microgreens and many other mature leafy greens. I personally saw the impact live\, fresh\, organic food had on an ill body. \nYou don’t have to be a raw vegan to get the benefits of all the live phytonutrients and enzymes in microgreens. You get benefits by adding them to your daily menu by putting them in soups\, juices\, salads\, as garnish and even as a snack. For example\, I LOVE to snack on sunflower sprouts!” \nWhat are the health benefits of microgreens?\n“WOW where do I start?! \nMany studies have found that microgreens have larger quantities of magnesium\, magnesium\, copper\, zinc\, phosphorus\, potassium\, calcium (and the list goes on) and phytochemicals. Phytochenicals are chemical compounds produced by plants. \nOn this site it states that “some of these phytochemicals are believed to protect the cells from damage that could lead to breast cancer; they help stop carcinogens from attacking the cell.” \nWe can talk about Sulforaphane. It has potent cancer preventative effects\, as well as effects that likely influence the prevention of cardiovascular disease. There have been studies finding positive effects on autism. Sulforaphane is found in broccoli microgreens and sprouts. You can find most if not all the studies on PubMed—a free full-test archive of biomedical literature.” \n \nBio  \nLilly Castro has been in the alternative medicine field for over 20 years. She is certified in Advanced food healing\, and is a Holistic Health Consultant. Lilly has been teaching classes on disease prevention and reversing illness by changing lifestyle\, eating habits\, juicing and growing your greens.  She recently started her own line of microgreens and sprout products (Sprout Chick) to sell to the public.  If you would like more information on the products she offers click HERE. \nBefore moving to Nashville in 2015 Lilly worked at the world renowned Hippocrates Health Institute. HHI is a raw vegan institute were people come from all over the world to heal themselves through food and learning how their body works. There she learned how to grow wheatgrass\, sprouts and microgreens and learned how powerful there are for optimal health and healing.  It has since become a mission to share the healing power sprouts and microgreens. Lilly better known as the “Sprout Chic” currently offers a variety of workshops covering growing microgreens\, spouting\, juicing and sustainable living. \nHow to Grow Your Own Microgreens and Sprouts Class\nSaturday\, June 27th\, 10 am – 12 noon

He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a degree in Agricultural Science and has been involved in several aspects of farming over the years including growing tobacco\, hog production\, row crops (wheat\, corn and soybeans) \, cattle\, goats and most recently has planted 11 acres of wine grapes. Growing grapes is a new venture but one where he uses his past agricultural experience and knowledge. He has also completed the UC Davis wine certification program. \nBeth grew up in Jackson\, TN on a dairy farm where she and her siblings were very much a part of the daily working of the dairy. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics Education. She was a stay at home mom to their 4 children\, homeschooling and then being very much involved in their education at public school. Teaching Sunday School\, substitute teaching at school\, and then being a kindergarten teacher assistant for 13 years are some of the ways she has been involved in education. However\, the somewhat old-fashioned idea of homemaking has always been the most important aspect of Beth’s life. \nThe Morans have a keen interest in fermentation in general\, hence the interest in fermenting grapes into wine. They have also made vinegar\, sour kraut\, sourdough bread and kombucha. Curing meat is a different type of fermentation which they have done for years with hams and bacon. \nParticipants must be at least 21 years of age.
