DESCRIPTION:Kid’s Nature Hike:  Foraging for Food\nSaturday\, May 28\, 10 – 11:30 am\nCost: $20\, which includes instruction and identification guide\n\n\n\n\n  \nStoney Creek Farm has 15 acres and most of it is covered in edible food.  We will go on an imaginative nature hike across the farm to learn all about edible and medicinal plants that masquerade as ‘common weeds’\, but are actually nutritious and beneficial herbs (wild edibles). \nWhat will Kids learn in this Nature Hike?\n\nCommon weeds you can eat\nPlants for food (dandelions) versus plants for medicinal purposes (plantain)\nHabitat of wild edibles – eg. ramps are not found in a swamp\nCompanion plants – usually one edible will have another near it\nHandy Guides to help identify edibles\nPoisonous Plants to avoid\nParts of the wild edible that are best to eat…flower\, stem\, leaf\n\nThe Nature Hike will start on the back porch of the Stoney Creek Barn and go across the creek and several acres of the farm.  Kids should wear sturdy shoes and layered clothing depending on the weather.  After the hike\, kids can also go feed the goats and walk around the farm/play on the swing set. Parents/Grandparents are welcome to bring a lunch and enjoy time outdoors on the farm.\n\nNote: Any parents who want to drop off older children\, must sign a farm liability waiver.\n\nStoney Creek Farm has been searching for someone to lead kid activities here in Franklin and Cori Williams is the perfect teacher for making every class FUN! We are adding more kid’s classes at affordable prices throughout the year. Your kids will LOVE her innovative teaching style!  Healthy learning environments have an effective teaching strategy where students can learn positive participation and that is what Cori emulates.\n\n\n\nTeacher Bio\nCori Williams has many talents: Teacher\, Graphic artist\, certified Tennessee Naturalist\, and has taught using the Charlotte Mason and Reggio Emilia methods. She has a true LOVE of Nature and Sustainable Living and would love to share that enthusiasm with your child.\n\nCori and her 10-year-old son are native Nashvillians and are constantly seeking new opportunities for nature hikes and effective/engaging learning experiences.
