DESCRIPTION:Canceled – Kid’s Nature Hike:  Tree Identification\nSaturday\, April 2\, 10 – 11:30 am\nCost:  $20\nWe apologize for this cancelation\, but please check out our other Kid’s Classes at this LINK. \nStoney Creek Farm has 15 acres and about 1/2 of it is covered in trees.  We will go on an imaginative nature hike across the farm to learn all about the trees that grow in Middle Tennessee.  Each species has certain characteristics and that is what we will use to identify each species of tree.  Did you know that there are nearly 1\,200 species of trees that grow naturally in the U.S. and about 50\,000 species worldwide? \nWhat will Kids learn in this Nature Hike?\n\nTree species and the tree parts that are used to identify them\nThe difference in ‘native’ versus ‘exotic’ trees\nThe two types of trees:  conifers and broadleaf.\nHow to measure the age of a tree\nLeaf structure\nBeneficial and Detrimental Insects of trees\nTree diseases…and so much more\n\nThe Nature Hike will start on the back porch of the Stoney Creek Barn and go across the creek and several acres of the farm.  Kids should wear sturdy shoes and layered clothing depending on the weather.  After the hike\, kids can also go feed the goats and walk around the farm/play on the swing set. Parents/Grandparents are welcome to bring a lunch and enjoy time outdoors on the farm.\n\nNote: Any parents who want to drop off older children\, must sign a farm liability waiver.\n\nStoney Creek Farm has been searching for someone to lead kid activities here in Franklin and Cori Williams is the perfect teacher for making every class FUN! We are adding more kid’s classes at affordable prices throughout the year. Your kids will LOVE her innovative teaching style!  Healthy learning environments have an effective teaching strategy where students can learn positive participation and that is what Cori emulates.\n\n\n\nTeacher Bio\nCori Williams has many talents: Teacher\, Graphic artist\, certified Tennessee Naturalist\, and has taught using the Charlotte Mason and Reggio Emilia methods. She has a true LOVE of Nature and Sustainable Living and would love to share that enthusiasm with your child.\n\nCori and her 10-year-old son are native Nashvillians and are constantly seeking new opportunities for nature hikes and effective/engaging learning experiences.\n
